Still Longing for My Completed Craft Room

Maybe we’ll get some more stripes on the wall in the craft room this week. We’re still only at two blue ones. haha. That’s what happens when life gets busy, and I’ve decided I’m okay with that. It will get done one day or another (and that will be a glorious, wonderful day), but until then I’m not gunna stress about it.

In the meantime I’ve been making some things to use in the craftroom..like my lamp.

Today I’ll show you how I made this yarn wrapped jar.

I’ve been seeing a lot of projects with things wrapped in yarn or twine/jute and I thought, “Hey, that looks fun! That can’t be that hard!” Well..I discovered that while it’s not that difficult it is very time-consuming.

What you’ll need:

– yarn
– bottle or jar
– felt (optional)
– hot glue gun and extra glue sticks
-scissors

I used multi-colored yarn to create a cool effect with colors.

Begin by gluing the end of the yarn on the bottom of the jar (I used a salsa jar since it was a nice size). Then, put about an inch of hot glue where your yarn should go next and wrap the yarn around the circular edge of the bottom.

Continue to glue and wrap the yarn around the jar, pulling it taut as you go, directly under the previous layer.

This jar took me a little over an hour to wrap. If I had thought about it, I would have spray painted the outside first so that if I missed any spots none of the glass would show through. I still may pour some paint inside the jar and let that dry so that you can’t see through the jar so much.

Next, I made some felt flowers. I used this tutorial which was super easy to follow (love that!). I had never made them before (and wanted to for a while). The first one took me about 15 min. to make. So..either I am super slow at making everything or these projects you see are often much easier/quicker than they look.
